National Cheng Kung University
My name is Adrian, and I’m from British Columbia, Canada. I was born in Kamloops but spent most of my time in Kelowna including high school and most of my university life. I lived there up until my graduation from the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) where I attained my Bachelor on Arts majoring in Industrial Psychology with a minor in Sociology. During my time in university, I worked as a sales representative at a national sports store. While deciding what direction my life would take next, a close friend shared his experience in Asia and I chose to experience the world before settling down to focus on my career. My friend highly suggested Taiwan and I bought my ticket the next day.
Upon arriving in Taiwan and choosing Tainan as my favorite city, I quickly made friends, got a vehicle, found a job, and made a comfortable life here. After a few years, I still loved Taiwan but decided that needed a change. I noticed the International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) offering at National Cheng Kung University (NKCU) and my interest was immediately sparked to not only stay in Taiwan but also further my education by attaining an MBA in an international setting at one of Taiwan’s most prestigious universities. After being accepted to the 2007 IMBA program, I quickly realized the uniqueness of the department through extensive class offerings and a plethora of students from around the world. I chose to study multiple disciplines in the IMBA program with a focus on International Finance. I also served as Vice President of the Student Council, while working closely with the OIA for NKCU internationalization efforts, and contributed to the eventual AACSB department accreditation.
After graduating from NCKU, I worked hard to establish a successful career in the bicycle industry. Taiwan’s bicycle industry and associated companies are world-renowned and I am lucky to be able to travel the world doing business while being able to reside in my favorite place and the country I call home, Taiwan. Furthermore, I am able to stay in Tainan where I met my wife, started a family with a beautiful daughter being born in 2019, and have built a wonderful life over the past 16 years.
My future plans include furthering myself in my career and proudly enhancing and promoting Taiwan’s premier position in the global bicycle industry. I look forward to seeing my family flourish in Tainan while witnessing the amazing evolution of culture and business in Taiwan.
