The Executive Conference on International and Cross-strait Affairs, 2013 held by FICHET ended successfully on June 26th. The participants include Deans of international affairs from Taiwan’s universities as well as 9 delegates from KAIE (Korean Association of International Educators) and JAFSA (Japan Network for International Education) who have shared their valuable experiences of international education promotion in Korea and Japan. During their stay in Taiwan, they have also visited Tamkang University, Soochow University and Feng Chia University and have had many benevolent interactions with Taiwan’s universities. The first keynote speech was given by Dr. Tony W. T. Lin, Director-General, Ministry of Education in the title of “The Strategy of Taiwan Higher Education Internationalization.” And the second keynote speech was given by Professor Wan-Lee Cheng, Chair Professor, Chung Yuan Christian University in the title of “Competitiveness of Taiwan Higher Education.” In addition to the keynote speeches, the conference had 2 Plenary Sessions and 4 concurrent sessions in the title of “JAFSA- National Policy on the strategy of International Education,” “KAIE-Korean Government’s Policy in International Education, Functions and Roles of Korean Government Organizations in International Education,” “The Industry Demand for Technological and Vocational Education in Taiwan,” “The Promotion Strategies of Taiwan Higher Education,” “The Promotion Strategies of Mandarin Education,” and “The Strategies of Mainland China Students Recruitment.” The presenting institutions include Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Ming Chuan University, National Central University, Ministry of Education, National Taiwan Normal University, Feng Chia University and Fu Jen Catholic University.
